Horse Race Festival

Lithang, one of the highest towns in the world (4019 m). The annual Lithang Horse-race Festival, traditionally held between July and Auguest, is a window of highland culture and folklore activities. It is attended by tens of thousands of local nomads coming on horseback from different part of Tibet area. A white tent city emerges from nowhere. Contests of archery on horseback and horsemanship, yak race and Tibetan dog race will beheld at the festival together with performances by itinerant balladeers and dancers in addition to a lively swap market.
