What is tailor made?
A tailor made holiday and travel service is like a personal planning service. You tell us what you want (either in detail, or give us some parameters to work within), and then we arrange services to fit your wishes for your holiday, or advise you on improvements which we think you may want to consider.
What's a private tour?
Private Packaged Tour gives you the opportunity to enjoy many highlights and privileges that the other two methods can not provide.
Private cars or minibuses – A clear, air-conditioned car or minibus that will hold all the members of your group is at your service while sightseeing in a city or town, except when sightseeing is arranged by the cruise ship. Only your group will share your vehicle. Your group will usually use planes, trains or public express buses when transferring between cities or towns. Private cars or minibuses are not available except by special request and extra charges would apply.
Private local tour guide – A local English-speaking guide (guide speaking other languages is available upon request) is available for your group in each city or town that you visit. The guide will take care of all tour arrangements. The guide is assigned to only your group, except if for Yangtze River cruises where the guide on the ship serves all the passengers
Private driver – An experienced driver is at your disposal in each city or town.
Flexible tour arrangements – You can be with your tour package arrangements according to your varying. This gives you the flexibility to change the visiting order or extend visiting time of some attractions.
How to meet your guide?
When you choose our package tours with guide service included, your local guide will meet you at the airport, the railway station, the port or at the hotel. If the guide is At the airport, port or train station, the guide will hold a greeting sign with the name of one of your group member’s name on it (usually it is the name of the person who contacted with us and organized the tour). The guide will stand in the place where she/he can be easily located and seen as you come through the arrival gate. In some cases that the guide will need to meet you at the hotel at which you are staying. The guide will call you the night before to set a meeting time and place to wait for you in the lobby.
Do I have to tip in China?
We pay the guides and drivers a good and reasonable salary. However, we realize that some people might like to tip guides or drivers for their outstanding service. The amount of your tip is based on the satisfaction you have received from the guides and drivers. The usual amount is about 80-150RMB/day to a guide and half amount to a driver (a separate offer to them is better) if their service satisfy you. Of course, you can pay more or choose not to pay on different occasions.
E-tickets in China:
1. Most major airlines in China are now able to issue E-tickets but not all of them.
2. E-tickets are more common to flights between larger cities than those on lesser routes.
3. Foreign traveler holding electronic ticket need only show their passports to board the plane but need to ensure that the name on the e-ticket is exactly the same as the name on the passport.
4. A confirmation code will be issued for each e-ticket.
What is the best time to have the cruise?
The best seasons to take a Yangtze River cruise are spring and autumn. To put it more specific, it is April, May, September and October when the weather is cool and comfortable. These four months are often called high seasons. Despite the factor of weather, the best time is in winter in terms of price. The prices are the lowest for the winter cruises and the highest in high seasons
Who pay the travel insurance?
MyOldChina provides a limited insurance cover for all clients who book tours excluding day tours, half-day tours, pickup & transfer service, hotel bookings only or air ticket only. We endeavor to make your trip as worry free as possible. All travelers should take out comprehensive travel insurance before leaving their home country.
Can I travel to Tibet by myself?
No. According to China's regulation, individual travel to Tibet is not allowed. You have to join a group and we can help you find one at any time.
Could you give me some advice on clothing when traveling in Tibet?
Temperature differs dramatically between daytime and night. Lhasa, the capital city, could have a temperature during daytime of around 10-25 Centigrade, but at night, temperature may plummet to 0 Centigrade or lower. You are advised to bring thick, warm coats when traveling Tibet. The roads are very dusty so you may wish to consider wearing dark colored clothing.
