6 Days Retracing Ancient Tea&Horse Caravan Trail

    

Itinerary:
Day 1 Arrival in Kunming      Green Lake Hotel
Arrive at Kunming airport and meet our local guide in Kunming and transfer to hotel. After check in, enjoy tea in a tea house by Green Lake and make orientation of this trip. With time permitting, visit the Bird & Flower Market. Overnight in Kunming.

Day 2 Kunming/Dali             Gurong Hotel
Morning short flight from Kunming to Dali, an old town with beautiful landscape and long history. Explore Dali old town with interesting shops in late afternoon. Overnight in Dali.

Day 3 Dali/Shaxi                  Traditional Style Guesthouse
We take a short cruise on Erhai Lake and explore the local Bai villages and markets on feet. In the afternoon, drive to Shaxi village, visit the historic Sideng market, last surviving marketplace of the trail. Overnight in village.

Day 4 Shaxi/Lijiang     Conifer hotel
In the morning we pay a visit to Shizhong Grottos, whose ancient carvings trace all the way back to the very beginnings of Buddhism in China. In the afternoon we drive to Lijiang, Check in the hotel in Shuhe Old Town. Then, time to explore Shuhe Old Town and Baisha village.

Day 5 Lijiang      Conifer hotel  
Enough time for us to explore Lijiang old town, Black Dragon Pool park and Museum of Dongba culture, a tour of local architecture. In the evening, attend a performance by the Naxi Orchestra which performs traditional court music over 1000 years old on traditional instruments.

Day 6 Depart by air to Kunming, end of journey.
